Are you struggling with negative thought patterns that affect your daily life? At Happy Autumn Counseling, we offer personalized CBT therapy in Dallas to help you break free from these cycles and regain control over your mental health. If you’re ready to take the first step toward improving your well-being and finding lasting change, you’re in the right place. Let’s explore the symptoms, treatments, and how CBT can help you live a more balanced life. Ready to get started?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of talk therapy that focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and by changing unhelpful thoughts, we can positively influence emotions and actions.
At Happy Autumn Counseling, we use CBT to help clients in Dallas and across Texas address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and social anxiety. The goal of CBT is to teach you practical strategies to manage your mental health challenges and develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving.
CBT is effective in treating a variety of mental health concerns. Some of the most common symptoms that CBT can help with include:
-Persistent negative thinking: repeating negative thoughts that lower your self-esteem or increase anxiety.
-Difficulty managing emotions: feeling overwhelmed by emotions like anger, sadness, or frustration, and not knowing how to cope with them.
-Avoidance behaviors: avoiding certain situations or activities due to fear or anxiety, which can limit your ability to engage in life fully.
-Panic attacks or severe anxiety: experiencing intense episodes of anxiety that affect your ability to function.
-Depressive thoughts: having ongoing thoughts of hopelessness, sadness, or a lack of interest in activities you once enjoyed.
CBT therapy can be helpful if you find yourself stuck in a cycle of negative thinking, or if your thoughts and emotions are affecting your daily life. Here are a few questions to ask yourself to see if CBT might be the right choice for you:
- Do you often feel like your thoughts are spiraling out of control?
- Are you avoiding certain situations or people because of fear or anxiety?
- Are negative thoughts about yourself or others preventing you from living a fulfilling life?
If any of these sound familiar, CBT therapy might be a great option to help you develop new ways of thinking and responding to challenges.
At Happy Autumn Counseling, we specialize in using CBT to help people overcome a variety of mental health challenges.
Here’s what to expect from our approach:
- Identifying negative thought patterns: we’ll work together to identify thoughts that contribute to your distress. These could be patterns of self-criticism, fear, or doubt.
- Challenging unhelpful beliefs: through guided questioning, we’ll help you challenge and reframe these thoughts, replacing them with more balanced and helpful beliefs.
- Behavioral activation: CBT also focuses on encouraging positive actions and behaviors. We’ll identify activities that can improve your mood and well-being, and work on building them into your routine.
- Skill building: you’ll learn practical skills to manage anxiety, stress, or depression, and gain confidence in applying these tools in your daily life.

CBT helps manage PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) by changing negative thought patterns tied to trauma. It provides tools to process emotions and reduce symptoms, fostering healing.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, making it effective for anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) builds on CBT by adding skills for emotion regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance, designed for managing intense emotions and conditions like Borderline Personality Disorder.
CBT for insomnia (CBT-I) addresses the thoughts and behaviors that interfere with sleep. It includes techniques to improve sleep hygiene, reduce sleep-related anxiety, and develop healthier sleep habits, helping individuals achieve more restful sleep.
Examples of CBT exercises include thought records, where clients write down their negative thoughts and challenge their accuracy. Another example is exposure exercises, where individuals gradually face feared situations to reduce anxiety over time. Relaxation and mindfulness techniques are also common in CBT.
The five steps of CBT therapy typically include:
- Identifying troubling situations.
- Becoming aware of thoughts, emotions, and beliefs about these situations.
- Recognizing negative or inaccurate thinking patterns.
- Challenging and reframing negative thoughts.
- Developing healthier behaviors and coping strategies based on more balanced thinking.
